Nannup
Nannup, South West
Nannup is a small town located in the South West region of Western Australia, along the banks of the Blackwood River. The place-name was derived from an Aboriginal word, which translates to either `stopping place' or `place of parrots.'
Though the town has long with associated with the timber industry and boasts of a rich heritage, there are only a few historic buildings left standing at the present. Most of these old structures have either been demolished or replaced by newer ones. Such is the case of the Nannup Police Station, whose original structure was built in 1868. It was replaced by another structure in 1922 and is now where the Tourist Information Office is located. Read more...
