South West, Western Australia

This park is located off Buffalo Road and is home to numerous species of native wildlife, making it ideal for animal viewing and bird watching. There are also facilities for camping and picnics. Visitors also come to this national park to go bush walking or bicycling, while four wheel drives are also permitted.

Another outdoor destination is the Golden Valley Tree Park, located along the Old Padbury Road. This particular park was established and intended to be the first major arboretum of the state. It is composed of the `Australian Collection' and the ``Exotic Tree Collection.' The park is an ideal destination especially during fall, when the leaves of some trees turn golden. There are several nature walks to enjoy while in the area, which picnics are also permitted.

For those interested in bird watching, the Capel Wetlands Centre is their ideal destination. Accessed via Low Road in Capel, this attraction features several bird hides and viewing platforms for visitors' convenience.

In the town of Australind, there is a church which is considered the smallest in the country. The St. Nicholas Church is located along Paris Road and is only about 8 meters long and 3.6 meters wide. This still operational church is also a historic landmark, having been built in 1848 as a worker's cottage.

Another historic religious structure is the All Saints Church in Coolie, which was established in 1915. This Norman-style building also contains antique candlesticks and altar crucifix. One of the most striking features in its interiors is the large mural in its sanctuary. The church is located at the corner of Harvey and Venn Streets.

While in Collie, visitors should also look out for the Big Tree, said to be the biggest living jarrah tree in the area. Located on Mornington Mills, this famous landmark is measured to be 36 meters high. Visitors should also take the time to explore the Mosaic Footpath on Throssell Street. This artistic attraction is the brainchild of artist Miv Egan and includes the tiles made by school children in the area. It was made in 1995 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the cycling race from Collie to Donnybrook and vice versa.

The town of Brunswick is the proud location of the Brunswick Cow, a life-style replica of a friesian cow located along the South Western Highway. It was built to recognize the contribution of the dairy industry to the region.

There are also several wineries in the South West region. One is the Capel Vale Wines, located on Mallokup Road in Capel. Apart from the winery, the establishment also features a restaurant that offers dishes complimenting their fine wine list. South of the winery is the Ludlow Tuart Forest, the largest remaining natural tuart forest in the world. Visitors to the winery not only get to enjoy fine food and wine, they also get to view the beautiful scenery all around.

Located in Brookhampton, along Wade Road, is the Byramgou Park, which includes a winery within. Scenic views are enjoyed all throughout, while the winery's cellar door is open to visitors who wish to sample to their fine wine products.

The Heritage Country Cheese produces several varieties of cheese and allows demonstrations of how these products are made. There are also several walking tracks and picnic spots all around the property, which is located along the Balingup Nannup Road.
