Perth City is located right in the heart of the city in Western Australia, bordered by the railway lines in the north, the Swan River in the south and east, and by Kings Park in the west. Most of the retail and entertainment facilities of the city are concentrated within the Perth City. The district is also where the tallest building in the city is located, the Central Park.

One of its more popular attractions is the bell tower located on Barracks Street. Visitors stopping by this structure get to behold the ancient bells of St. Martins in the Fields. The bells where given by the city of London to the city of Perth.

It is also worth mentioning that the Kings Park located right next to the City of Perth is an extensive outdoor destination that is popular both to locals and visitors. It has an large land that offers opportunities for visitors to go bush walking without having to leave city limits. The park is also ideal for jogging, biking, and picnics. The park also features the Australian Botanic Garden, where native plant species are planted and cultivated. The park is also the venue for the annual Wildflower Festival every September, where numerous floral displays can be enjoyed.

Another popular outdoor attraction is the Swan River, where water-based recreation can be enjoyed. At any given day, different sailing vessels can be seen lazily drifting down the river. The river banks provide ideal settings for picnics and leisurely strolls, while the more health conscious can be seen jogging along several of its scenic paths.

There are also notable park lands located within the Perth CBD. Included in the list is the Supreme Court Gardens, accessed through the corner of Riverside Drive and Barrack Street. It is also a historic landmark, having been established in 1845. It is also the venue of the annual Opera in the Park and the Carols by Candlelight event. Also located along Riverside Drive is the Langley Park, which was originally an airstrip. However, the distinction of being the oldest garden in Perth goes to the Stirling Gardens, which was an acclimatization garden prior to its opening as a botanical garden in 1845. Its notable features include water features and sculptures of kangaroos.

For those interested in architectural history, a visit to His Majesty's Theatre shouldn't be missed. Located along Hay Street, this fine structure is one of the few operational Edwardian theaters in the world. It was built during the early part of the 20th century and was named after King Edward VII.

The Government House is designated as the official residence of the Governor of Western Australia. Located along St. Georges Terrace, it was built in the later part of the 20th century and is of Jacobean Revival style. This mansion, with its extensive gardens, is also listed with the West Australian Register of Heritage Places.

Another historic building in Perth City is the Perth Town Hall, located on the corner of Barrack and Hay Streets. It is recognized as the only town hall in the country that was built by convicts during the early days of European settlement. This Victorian Free Gothic building was also completed in the later part of the 19th century.

There are also lots of venues for modern entertainment in this district. One is the Perth Concert Hall, along St. Georges Terrace. This established is considered as one of the best, if not the best, venues for musical performances in the country, owing to its excellent acoustics. It is also one of the main venues for the annual Perth International Arts Festival.
