When it comes to beaches, Western Australia boasts of numerous seaside holiday destinations that visitors can choose from. There's the Turquoise Bay situated south of the town of Exmouth. The bay is a favorite destination for those wishing to go snorkeling. The bay is located within the Ningaloo Marine Park, home of numerous and widely diverse marine species that also provide a colorful site for scuba divers.

Located several kilometers west of Exmouth is Cable Beach, located in the town of Broome. Its popularity lies in its long stretch of white sand with sparkling blue waters that is ideal for swimming and snorkeling. There are also plenty of opportunities for water sports. However, the beach is notorious for its visiting stingers between the months of November and March.

Another popular swimming destination is the Green's Pool, a natural body of water located in the town of Denmark. There are also plenty of amenities for snorkeling and scuba diving, as well as fishing and boating.

For the more serious scuba diving enthusiasts, Western Australia is well known for several of its excellent diving spots. Included in the list is the Batavia shipwreck, located in Morning Reef off Beacon Island. The wreck happened in 1629 and is clearly visible in six meters of water. Divers can explore its remains, including cannons and anchors.

On the other hand, the HMAS Swan is a relatively new addition to the list of dive wreck sites in the state, being recently scuttled and made into an artificial reef. This attraction lies in Geographe Bay in Dunsborough.

There are also several world-renowned attractions located in Western Australia. One of the most prominent is the Shark Bay World Heritage Area, which a wide diversity of animals calls home, including some protected and endangered species. Shark Bay is also the location of the Hamelin Pool stromatolites, considered to be the world's largest as well as oldest living fossils. Another popular attraction of Shark Bay is its resident bottle-nosed dolphins in Monkey Mia, which visits the shores regularly. Lucky visitors may even have the opportunity to participate in supervised feeding.

When in Western Australia, visitors should also make sure to stop by Mount Augustus, the biggest rock formation in the world. Accessed via the road bearing the same name, Mount Augustus features several caves and aboriginal arts.

Another geological attraction in Western Australia is the Pinnacles, limestone formations that are quite spectacular to see. Located several kilometers east of Cervantes, it is accessible via the Pinnacles Drive.

Other unusual attractions include the Wolfe Creek Crater near East Kimberly, said to be the second largest meteorite crater in the world, and the Horizontal Waterfalls in Talbot Bay.

Western Australia also boasts of several huge events that draw guests from all over the state and the country. One is the Kulin Bush Race held in Jilakin Rock every October. Every September is the Shinju Matsuri Festival of the Pearl, held in Broome. This event celebrates the pearl industry of the state.
