Tasman Peninsula
The Tasman Peninsula is only about 2 hours or 90 minutes ride from Hobart, the capital city of Tasmania, going east. This land is located south east of Tasmania. The way towards the peninsula is winding but packed with beautiful views from the trees and forest along the drive. Enjoying the scenery makes ones driving experience enjoyable.
There are small towns located in Tasman Peninsula such as the Nubeena, Koonya, Premaydena, Highcroft, and Stormlea. The largest among the five towns are the two former towns mentioned.
There are many famous places in Tasman Peninsula which visitors can tour around for explorations. One of which is its magnificent coastline which is now known as the Tasman National Park. Tasman Peninsula is also best known for its surfing spots on the Cape Roaul and Roaring Beach. Another interesting place for visit is famous for the historic site found in Port Arthur, originally a penal settlement in the 1830's and the Saltwater River, a convict coal mine back in the early times.
The place was originally inhabited by pyder-remer people who lived in the large area of Tasmania. Its name came from the Dutch explorer Abel Tasman, who was the first known European who reached the place.
Along the Peninsula, you can admire the buildings with its rich heritage and spectacular designs. The ancient design shows the historical background of the place. The popular and scenic Port Arthur reveals the history of how Australian live during the penal system. It shows the ruins of the church and prisons which rise curiosity and imagery of the difficulties lived by the Australian at that time. But this is not the only noticeable view in the area. You will also be attracted on the natural English trees growing along the peninsula which actually makes a perfect place for a relaxing picnic or simply strolling and admiring the beauty of the forest and landscapes. Aside from this, one can also cruise on the waters of the Isle of the Dead, also a historic site in the area.
You can also savor its delicacies such as oyster, octopus and quails which you can avail from the Copping and cafe's near the Barilla Bay, nearby the Hobart Airport. From this view you will also see wildlife welcoming you in the Tasmanian National Park, an activity that amuses most visitors. You will also find gleaming beaches and coastal as a main attraction in this place as it presents a natural landscape and breathtaking views from the sea cliffs. These landscapes render wonders of nature worthy of pleasure.
Going further ahead, you can appreciate the nature from the views in Pirate Bay and Eagle Hawk Neck, a placed believe to prevent the convicts from escaping in the prison. Next is the beautiful and magnificent Tessellated Pavements which shows an interesting rock formation formed by the erosion of the ocean. The same fate happened to the views in Blow Hole, which is located a few kilometers further. Not far enough from there, you will admire the Devil's Kitchen and Tasman Arch, which is rock formation caused by the coastal condition in the Tasman. Never miss the view as it shows the beautiful nature in its most interesting form. Even as you return northwards, you will observe the interesting rare parrots in the stunning Weilangta Forest Drive.
