Geeveston is a small town located in the southern part of Tasmania. Situated along the Huon River, the town was named after William Geeves, one of the early settlers in the area. The river provides an ideal setting for outdoor activities like walking and having picnics. It is also ideal for boating and canoeing.

The town is also a gateway to the Hatz Mountains National Park, where visitors can enjoy nature in all its glory by following its walking tracks and nature trails. The park contains several glacial lakes, including the Lake Hatz. Visitors can also take the Arve Forest Drive, which takes them through a scenic eucalyptus forest.

Also located near Geeveston is the Tahune Forest Reserve, where the Picton River passes through. The river provides opportunities for rafting, canoeing, kayaking, and fishing.

There are also several picnic and barbecue spots in the area, along the banks of the Huon River. Visitors should also try the Tahune Airwalk before leaving this area. Steel walkways located high up in the treetops are constructed to allow visitors to experience an entirely different way of exploring the forest.

A visit to the Visitors Centre will yield interesting information about the forest and how it is managed. The facility also incorporates a restaurant and a retail outlet for local produce from nearby villages and towns.

One of the town's historic structures is the Geeveston Community Church, located along Huon Highway. This structure was built in the later part of the 19th century.

Visitors should also visit the Forest and Heritage Centre on Church Street, which provides information regarding forestry in the area. The different types of forests in the state are showcased in several exhibits and different forestry practices are also detailed. There are also several artworks inspired by forest landscapes and scenery. Nature walks are also available in forested areas surrounding the center. Wood crafts can be purchased for those wishing to take home something unique from Geeveston.

Avid fishermen find much enjoyment at the Geeveston Highlands Salmon and Trout Fishery, located on Kermandie Road. The fishes here are caught in a catch and release method, guaranteeing large prizes for anyone who pays their on site fee. The forest setting of the fishery adds to the enjoyment of visitors, providing for a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere.

Another interesting destination is the Southern Design Centre, located on School Road. This establishment is a craft and furniture center where visitors can purchase timber furniture and decorative pieces. The center also has a studio where artists at work can be observed. The center is also a good source of good-quality pottery, textile, glassworks, and silver jewelry.

A similar establishment is located along Church Street - the Cotton Duck Gallery. This gallery showcases works of emerging artists from all over the state. Workshops and lessons are also offered to promote the local art scene. The Cotton Duck Gallery is an establishment that expresses commitment to the development of arts in Tasmania.

The Geeveston Golf Club is a 9-hole facility that locals and visitors can use for their enjoyment. This golf course is located along Kermandie Road.

There are also numerous Geeveston accommodation options to choose from around the town which include hotels, B&Bs, lodges and hostels - everything you need to ensure your stay is a comfortable one.
