Ulverstone is a town located in the northwestern coast of Tasmania, at the mouth of the Leven River. The town was said to be named after a commercial establishment in the 19th century, the Ulverstone Store.
There are a lot of outdoor attractions located within and around Ulverstone. One is the Braddons Lookout, along the Upper Forth Road. This vantage point allows visitors to enjoy spectacular views of the coastline and surrounding bush land.

A short drive outside of town will bring visitors to the Gunns Plains Cave, which features hourly tours within its interiors that are well-lit to allow visitors to enjoy them to the fullest. Picnic facilities are also provided in a nearby area.
Further away from the town but still accessible enough for visitors to visit is the Leven Canyon. The area provides ample opportunities for bush walking, animal viewing, and bird watching. Facilities for barbecues and picnics are also provided.
There are also several interesting attractions located well within Ulverstone. One is the Shrine of Remembrance, a clock tower structure built in 1953. The shrine is meant for servicemen all branches of military service.
Another historic structure is the Westella, a residential structure built in 1885 and is located on the eastern part of the town. This timber house boasts of gabled roof and was constructed in style typical of that time in Tasmania.
Adjacent to Gables Park, located on the eastern part of Ulverstone, is the Gables House. The house overlooks the river and was built in 1850 as an inn.
The highlight of the Ulverstone Local History Museum is its collection of business facades from numerous historic buildings in the area. It also showcases items and memorabilia on the early pioneering days of the town. It is located on Main Street and is open to visitors all days of the week, except Mondays.
The 18-hole Ulverstone Golf Club provides a relaxing atmosphere for those wishing to indulge in a game or two of golf. Located along Lobster Creek Road, this golf course is nestled in a scenic landscape with plenty of trees. The facility is considered one of the top 100 golf courses in the country and has played host to numerous national and state competitions.
A large number of visitors come to town for the Ulvestone Rodeo, the biggest rodeo event in the state. Designed for the enjoyment of the whole family, this annual rodeo is held along Smith Street.
Ulverstone also plays host to the Annual Cradle Coast Rotary Art Exhibition and Sale. This event showcases the paintings of several artists, including new and emerging ones. Held every November, this event is a good source of high-quality yet affordable art works.
