Parndana is a small town of Kangaroo Island in South Australia. The place-name translates into `The Place of Little Gums.'
The town is the site of the Soldier Settlement Scheme during the early 20th century. More than a hundred soldiers and their families relocated to the area and a monument in honor of the settlement scheme was erected along Timber Creek Road.

The town boasts of its own marron farm, the Andermel Marron on Harriet Road. The farm contains numerous ponds containing this type of freshwater crayfish, and visitors get to learn all about their life cycle and behaviors. They can also purchase some to take home, complete with instructions on how to prepare them. The farm also incorporates a vineyard and winery, welcoming those who wish to sample and purchase their wine products. The farm also serves sumptuous dishes that go well with their wine list.
Along Playford Highway is the Parndana Wildlife Park, where visitors get to see numerous species of native animals. Kangaroos are particularly common in this park and some visitors may even get to feed them. The park also houses several species of birds, some of them quite rare.
The town also has its own golfing facilities, the Parndana Golf Club which can be accessed via Playford Highway. This 18-hole course blends beautifully with its natural surroundings, and players not only get to indulge in their favorite pastime but also get the opportunity for a brief commune with Mother Nature. The golf course caters to all types and gender of players, even amateurs.
Located a short drive away from Parndana is the Island Pure Sheep Dairy, located along Gum Creek Road. This dairy farm allows visitors to observe how cheese and yogurt are made from sheep milk. Samples are also offered while products can also be purchased on site.
Because Parndana is centrally located within the island, visitors who wish to enjoy the sand and surf must take short rides to the coast. One area that boasts of spectacular beach, recognized as one of the best in the country, is Vivonne Beach. This stretch of white sand located south of the island is considered safe for the whole family to swim and frolic in. Amenities for barbecues and picnics are also available.
On the way back to Parndana, visitors would do well to stop by Little Sahara, white sand dunes that are located north of Vivonne Beach. For hours of fun and enjoyment, sand boards are take up the slope of these dunes and are ridden down all the way to the bottom.
Parndana's central location make it an ideal gateway for bigger towns like Kingscote.
