The history of the suburb as a major port during the 19th century can still be clearly manifested in several of the historic buildings located all over the suburb and the town of Willunga. Example of which is the Old Police Station and Courthouse building located on High Street. This stone structure was built in 1864. It is now a National Trust Museum that focuses on depicting community life in the 19th century. Of particular interest are the carefully recreated Court and its well-preserved prison cells.
Nearby is the Old Post and Telegraph station that was constructed in the late 19th century. Following its restoration in 1986, the building is now a well-recognized landmark of the area that will surely delight anybody interested in architectural history.
Located several kilometers east of Port Willunga is the Mount Magnificence Conservation Park. Accessed via Yundi Road, this conservation park is ideal for bush walking, with its nature trails and spectacular scenery. Visitors to Port Willunga may want to take some time out from the surf and explore the rest of the Fleurieu Peninsula.
