Fleurieu Peninsula

Fleurieu Peninsulan, South Australia

he Fleurieu Peninsula is only a thirty-minute drive from the city of Adelaide. Bodies of water bound it on its western and southern sides. The western side of the peninsula is bordered by the Gulf of St. Vincent. On the eastern coastline of the peninsula, you will find the Coorong National Park which is known for its protected wildlife and plant life distinct only to the Australian ecosystem. Just off the western tip of the peninsula, you will be able to see the outlines of Kangaroo Island where you can find various kangaroo species and other animals found only in the Australian lands. The peninsula is accessible through the Southern Expressway and through a ferry ride. If you are coming from the eastern side, you need to go through the River Murray at Wellington.

Owing to its generally temperate climate, the region is known for its water activities and wineries. In fact, over 75 cellar wineries are found in the area, which provide only the finest wines to restaurants in the town. Its restaurants are known for offering distinctive regional cuisine. If wildlife is your thing, there are kangaroos which can be seen on the hillsides of its 20 national parks, particularly in Cox Scrub, Newland Head, and Deep Creek. The Coorong National Park, mentioned earlier is noted for its migratory birds. More birds can be seen at the Onkaparinga Estuary, areas around Mount Compass, and the Goolwa and Hindmarsh islands. As a region rich in wildlife, the peninsula is distinguished for migrations of Southern Right whales along its coastlines most especially in the Encounter Bay.

As a peninsula, Fleurieu has numerous water activities. Water sports such as surfing and scuba diving are common activities in the peninsula which never fail to amuse the tourists. Gustatory adventures are also in store for those who love seafood as well as gourmet food. Pubs near hotels, resorts, and cottages are also a sire way of spending your day here in Fleurieu Peninsula. There are very historically important towns in the area located alongside rivers, forests, bushlands, and natural landscape protected by government laws. Here, visitors get to interact and learn about Australia's endangered species. Abounding with vineyards, orchards, and rich farmland, the peninsula produces quality cheese, olive oil, spring lamb, and venison among others.

There are various Fleurieu Peninsula accommodation options to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Cheap Holiday Accommodation offer several bed and breakfasts, cottages and motels along the coastline. This provides the perfect spot to the peninsula's many activities because if it is not a walk from the nearest fine dining restaurant or shopping center, it would be a great walk along the coastline facing the Southern Ocean. More often than not, you'll get captured by the place in one of those leisurely walks along the beach.
