Barossan, South Australia

Barossa, which forms part of South Australia, is considered to be the ultimate destination of certified wine drinkers. The fertile lands of the region, especially of the Barossa Valley, and the temperate weather make it a perfect place for grape cultivation and establishment of wineries. Read more...

In fact, a large portion of the land is made up of wineries and cellars. Of course, there are also plenty of food producers in the region, so you can always have something to go with your wine.

The best place to view the vast land of wineries is the Mengler Hill, specifically the Mengler Hill lookout. It provides you of the most picturesque view of major suburbs in Barossa, such as Angaston and Tanunda.

You can also participate in a winery tour aboard a hot-air balloon, vintage automobile, or the contemporary limousine. You can also bring your trailer truck and camp in any of the caravan parks. You can also experience the true Barossa lifestyle by deciding to stay in the country house or the cottage lodge. Don’t forget to pair your wine with Authentic German-tasting breads such as those available in Barossa’s Butcher and Winemarker Trail.

The Barossa Farmers Market is already teeming with life as early as 7:30 in the morning. There are countless vendors and merchants that populate the space especially during Saturdays. During this time, you can buy fresh produce that you can use for your meals, as well as furnishings and paintings that would definitely remind you of the region. It’s also a good idea to head on to Angaston, so you can try the Vinters Bar and Grill.

Do you want to leave a special message to someone far? You can try the Whispering Wall located at Williamston, a small town that is less populated than other suburbs in Barossa. The wall is shaped like an ellipse. It allows you to send messages as far as 140 meters away. It also forms part of one of the biggest dams in South Australia.

One of the oldest churches in Australia, the Gnadenfrei Lutheran Church, is found in Seppeltsfield. It has been a house of worship and community service for more than 100 years. The people in this suburb are also famous for their great love of food. If you’re looking for great cook books, you must head to Seppetsfield. There are also plenty of locally made produce sold in shops and in the markets.

There are a number of festivals and events held in Barossa the whole year round. The vintage festival, which is celebrated every two years, is celebrated in relation to the harvest season of the community. There is also the Shakespeare in the Vines, a yearly performance during midsummer. It’s normally held at in the Seppelt Winery. If you want to see some huge stars or celebrities, come to Barossa’s star night. You also don’t want to miss out the gourmet food week, where you can taste various delectable goodies and dishes created through Barossa’s unique style of cooking.

Other popular Barossa destination include Lyndoch, Angaston, Tanunda, Gawler and the Barossa Valley; all of which can be enjoyed by booking Barossa accommodation online at Cheap Holiday Accommodation.
