Airlie Beach

Airlie Beach

Photo Gallery Photo Gallery

The Heart of Australia's Great Barrier Reef, Airlie Beach, is a seaside village in the Whitsundays Shire of Queensland. Also known as the Gateway to the Whitsunday's 74 islands and The Great Barrier Reef due to its strategic location, Airlie Beach enjoys a pleasant tropical climate.

An interesting piece of history is associated with Airlie Beach. James Cook considered the Whitsundays as sailors' paradise and named them because he believed, albeit wrongly, that he passed through the area on the Christian festival day of Whit Sunday. This started a tradition among the locals who celebrate the Blessing of the Fleet on Whit Sunday or Pentecost Sunday every year.

Airlie Beach is very well connected by air, water trains and roads. Getting there is no problem. The only problem is how to manage the limited time to see a vast array of tourist destinations around Airlie Beach.

As the name suggests, Airlie Beach is best for water sports. The beach is not very big but is very picturesque and surrounded by Palm trees. The air around the beach area acts as a calming influence and immediately relaxes a tired mind.

A must visit spot is the Airlie Beach Lagoon, a manmade saltwater swimming area surrounded by sand and grassy knolls. Boating on cruise, sailing, scuba diving, wakeboarding, kite surfing, Great Barrier Reef coral viewing, tube riding, swimming and a Helicopter jaunt at Airlie Beach are irresistible.

The lifestyle at Airlie Beach is extremely lively with great shopping centers, restaurants, bars, pubs, cafes, nightclubs and resorts certainly making your trip an unforgettable experience.

To make Airlie Beach worth re-visiting every time, we have arrangements for really cheap Airlie Beach accommodation. Our round-the-clock secure online bookings to major Airlie Beach resorts and hotels are just ideal for a thoroughly planned visit to a thoroughly enjoyable destination!
