One of the best beach suburbs of Cairns, Yorkeys Knob is located about 13 km from the Cairns city and is just 10 minutes drive away from Cairns International Airport. The strange sounding name 'Yorkeys Knob' got this title from George Yorkey Lawson, a Yorkshire-born Cairns-based fisherman who retired to the headland (the Knob) after a fishing accident.

The crystal clear seawaters in the backdrop lend the perfect setting for the various spots of tourist interest at Yorkeys Knob. Of course, the beach resorts are among the most popular choices for the visitors. One of the two beaches (the main patrolled beach) offers the protection of stinger nets in the summer season making it safe for swimming and other water sport activities.

Yorkeys Knob also plays host to the picturesque Half Moon Bay Golf Club. This 9-hole par-70 course is located at the western end of Wattle Street, and is a short but challenging layout, which features a number of water hazards.

Yorkeys Knob Boating Club is ideal for an epicurean with an interest in adventure sport. You can enjoy open-air meals with the sight to behold. The captive view of Half Moon Bay Marina and the ocean makes you spellbound and you can't help but marvel at the nature's abundance. The Half Moon Bay Marina has a capacity of 200 sheltered berths for vessels up to 30 metres.

The visitors can't get bored in Yorkeys Knob with activities ranging from swimming, sailing, windsurfing, snorkel, diving, golf, wildlife watch and sight seeing. Other places worth visiting while at Yorkeys Knob include Sim's Esplanade, Beachfront Parks, restaurants and shopping centre.

Yorkeys Knob is at its resplendent best when the tourists flock and just enjoy the place with abandon gay. We offer cheap Yorkeys Knob accommodation at all the popular resorts and hotels in the area and the wider Tropical North Queensland region.
