
One of the best beach suburbs of Cairns, Yorkeys Knob is located about 13 km from the Cairns city and is just 10 minutes drive away from Cairns International Airport. The strange sounding name ``Yorkeys Knob'' got this title from George Yorkey Lawson, a Yorkshire-born Cairns-based fisherman who retired to the headland (the Knob) after a fishing accident.
The crystal clear seawaters in the backdrop lend the perfect setting for the various spots of tourist interest at Yorkeys Knob.
