From Brisbane airport, the distance is about 2 hours and it takes about 40 minutes from the Sunshine Coast Airport. The place has an interesting history associated with it. Sunshine Beach was formerly known as Golden Beach, but was not very popular among the tourists and locals alike till 1920s. In 1928, Thomas Marcus Burke got land at the place in exchange for building roads and bridges from Tewantin. After World War II, the place got its present name when his son, Marcus, started marketing it as Sunshine Beach.
Sunshine Beach is a vast chunk of beautiful beach and patrolling on the beach prevents any unforeseen accident on the beach. Surfers enjoy the beach with rolling Pacific Ocean waves. Sunshine Beach Surf Club is a popular hangout with good eating and drinking place.
