  This was created in 1893 and was known as the North Queensland Golf Club. It was previously located at North Ward but it moved to Rosslea a few years later. The Townsville Golf Club is also a favorite venue for different occasions such as product launches, weddings, golf events and team building events, among others. Members actually benefit from the daily competitions in this golf course. Even if it is a members club, they also welcome social players. However, social players must make sure that they will book in advance and dress neatly.

Townsville Target Archers Inc. is another attraction in Rosslea. Tourists need not be experienced archers as they offer training for beginner archery. The training is done via the Oz Bow Archery Program of Archery Australia, which is the archery association in the country. The Townsville Target Archers Inc. is open to people of all ages and skills and is affiliated with Archery Australia and North Queensland Archery Association.

Another tourist destination in the area is the University Lavarack Barracks. This is a key Australian Army base and is presently home to the Third Brigade of the Australian Army. These barracks were named after Lieutenant General Sir John Lavarack. He was an Army officer for Australia during the two World Wars and he was also the Governor of Queensland during 1946 up until 1957.
