The city draws in over 850,000 international tourists every year and about 3.6 billion domestic visitors from all over the country who wish for a quick vacation get-away.

The Gold Coast has a very ideal weather conditions. The area receives an average of 245 days of sun and fine weather each year, with temperatures averaging in the 20's all year round. This very favourable climate makes it ideal for a wide range of attractions and activities. For one, the Gold Coast is home to four theme parks that are all well-visited. Movie World, Sea World, Wet 'n' Wild and Dreamworld are filled with only the best rides and sights that are great for the whole family.

The city is composed of about 57 kilometres of wondrous coastline and hosts the most popular surfing beaches in Australia such as Main Beach, the Spit, South Stradbroke Island, Surfers Paradise, Coolangatta, among many others. Along Gold Coast's navigable tidal water ways are inland beaches which include Southport, Jacobs Well and Marine Stadium Beaches.

Tours and attractions are also endlesson the Gold Coast which include parasailing, motor bike tours, hot air ballooning, sky diving, power boating, jet skiing, go karting, motor racing and helicopter tours. Deep sea fishing charters, dolphin and whale watching tours, as well as marine activities such as snorkelling and scuba diving, are also popular in the area. Furthermore, the Gold Coast houses over 20 of the leading golf resorts in the country, all with very picturesque views and manicured greens.

Going further inland leads to the three marvellous World Heritage listed National Parks in the area - Burleigh Heads, Lamington, Springbrook and Mount Tambourine. Burleigh Heads is most popular of them due to its close proximity, scenic ocean view and walking tracks. All these National Parks lead to the amazing rainforests and the most beautiful natural attractions in the state. Lamington, Tambourine and Springbrook all feature beautiful waterfalls and stunning natural lookouts. The Natural Bridge at Springbrook is a very popular attraction with its glow worms that light up the cave during night time. One can experience the hiking and walking tracks in the National Parks, enjoy a picnic or some barbecue with the family, or simply relax and be one with nature.

A recent local landmark is the Q1 Building which is also a very famous destination in the area. It has an observation deck located at level 77 which is the highest in Queensland and offers the most beautiful expansive views of the region in all directions. Another such landmark is the three Towers of Chevron Renaissance.
