Fraser Coast, Queensland

The region of Fraser Coast in Queensland is one of the most visited areas in the state. The region is among the most exciting places in the whole of Australia. The area is rich in breath-taking natural beauty and in diversity. It is also filled with tourist attractions from the world renowned Fraser Island to the inland regions of South Bernett. To complement these, there are a wide variety of recreation and adventure activities to enjoy.

The most famous spot in the Fraser Coast is undoubtedly the World Heritage listed Fraser Island, which happens to the largest sand island in the whole world, and is uniquely the only island where rainforest grows well from the sand. Its landscape changes continuously but its natural sand blows, long beaches, crystal streams and freshwater lakes are mainstays. Another attraction that is almost as famous is the Hervey Bay which offers over 20 kilometres of beautiful beaches and a safe aquatic playground. Tourists flock around the Bay from Ausu to November to go whale watching. Its abundant crystal clear creeks and fresh water lakes are excellent spots where one can view the most exotic flora and fauna, and is also a great oasis for the hot days of the summer.

Maryborough, one of the area's oldest and largest cities, is very rich in history and culture, and has retained most of the reminders of its major contribution in the area's history. It is referred to as the region's heritage city, with its streets meticulously lined with classic old homes. The most magnificent of architectures in the area is the Mayborough Heritage Gateway along Wharf Street which date back in the 1850's. It has also developed to be one of the newest award-winning wine producing region, with its vineyards producing only the best wines. Kingaroy, the most famous city in the region, exemplifies the country's hospitality and houses galleries and museums, restaurants and wineries.

Inland from Maryborough lies the South Burnett region, which is rich in history, wineries and agriculture, with Kingaroy being its most well-known town. Nearby lies the magnificent Bunya Mountains which provide a very lush backdrop for the Southern Burnett Valley. This National Park is home to an extinct volcano, and the now rare bunya pines of Queensland.

Tourists who are culturally inclined find it very ideal to explore the picturesque towns, to learn more about the history and the character of Fraser Coast with various Fraser Coast tours and attractions on offer. Those who love wine enjoy the vineyards of South Gourmet as well as the Gourmet Trails with an exceptional variety of cuisines. Those who love the outdoors can hit the beach, take scenic walks, go fishing, bird and wildlife watching, or go for a round of golf. The more adventurous can choose from go karts, sky diving (to even acrobatic air crafting) or do exhilarating thrill rides across the waters in the region.

The region of the Fraser Coast experiences a warm but mild climate almost all throughout the year. Its weather conditions make it even more idyllic as a holiday destination to stay overnight in and go on long vacations. The Fraser Coast accommodation options range from backpacker hostels to self-contained family type accommodations, from private bed and breakfasts to luxurious hotels, from quality caravan parks to cheap motels. Whatever the preferred budget or style is, there we can surely offer one thats fits your budget.
