Rockhampton is a city located on the banks of the Fitzroy River, some 26 miles inland from the eastern coast of Australia. The city that was once known for substantial gold mining is now considered as the Beef Capital of Australia. Though much of its economy still depends largely on grazing and cattle-raising, Rockhampton is slowly being recognized as a prime tourist destination, as well as excellent stop for tourists traveling toward the eastern coast. The city boasts of its own airport, considered one of the finest in the country.
