Toowong
Toowong is one of the many suburbs that are found in the inner parts of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It is around 5 kilometers from Brisbane CBD. Though there are plenty of shops and tourist attractions in the area, Toowong is predominantly a residential dwelling, with countless detached houses lining up the streets.
There are a lot of places to see and things to do when you’re in Toowong. Probably one of the most exciting will be taking part in a ghost tour in Queensland’s biggest cemetery known as Toowong cemetery. It was opened in the nineteenth century. What is really intriguing about this historical site is the way the graves are being classified. It just illustrates how people were divided into classes, and on some general criteria like their religion, ethnicity, and culture. It was also created to replace the old cemetery in Brisbane.
The mortuary is of Victorian design. Moreover, all plots were sold a long time ago, and there were no new burials accepted, except if the dead is a family of one of those buried in the area. However, through the efforts of the Brisbane City Council, all those graves and headstones that were already worn out and even forgotten were removed, while the surroundings were filled with trees and shrubs. The long-term plan is to make the mortuary park regain its beautiful natural parkland atmosphere.
A complete opposite to the cemetery is Perrin Park. It is normally visited by families, especially by children. There are several activities they can do here. They can drive their bicycles on the trails, set up picnics in the grounds provided for them, or enjoy themselves in the playground. For those who are bringing in their pets like dogs, they can tie their leash in the leash area, so they won’t be wandering off. Other facilities that you can find in the park include a car park, shaded and sheltered areas, disabled-friendly facilities, and barbecue amenities.
Toowong Village is one of the most modern structures that you can find in here. It is composed of three stories, with rooms rented by several high- to low-end retailers. There are also specialty stores inside, such as those offering gifts, books, arts and crafts, and homeware. You can also find several businesses offering a wide variety of services like floral shops, mobile phone and accessory stores, shoe repair center, fitness centers, financial consulting facilities, and auto detailing shops.
Toowong also has one of the oldest hotels that you can find in Brisbane. It’s known as Regatta Hotel. It is located right at the corner of Sylvan Road and Coronation Drive. It is made up of three floors, as well as key amenities, such as a bar and a lounge, where you can interact with other guests. The pub used to be quite old and gives you an idea of how people dined a long time ago. However, this was renovated for 3 years. Today, it is now a modern disco club, frequently visited by the youngsters. A holiday here means getting an excellent view of the Brisbane River.
To make sure you get to see Toowong in all it's glory, there are many Toowong accommodation options are available ensure all visitors enjoy a comfortable stay.
