The Northern Rivers region lies very close to Brisbane on the north and Sydney on the south. It is famous as a holiday destination due to its geographical as well as cultural diversity, along with its terrific climate. The climate conditions in the region is sub-tropical and mild, with the summer having a mean temperature range of 18 to 30 degrees, while winter ranges from 7 to 22 degrees (Celsius).

In this relatively small region, one can discover the amazingly endless stretch of the Pacific Ocean Coast beaches that are ideal for surfing (i.e. Australia's most famous Cape Byron), the rugged cattle country, the lush rolling farmlands and countryside dotted with quirky to quaint towns, the deep river gorges and the mystical rainforests. Northern Rivers is proud of its pristine beaches (without stinging jellyfish in the summer). It also boasts of being the home of the second largest extinct volcanoes.

Six of the precious World Heritage sites in Australia can be found in the Northern Rivers Tropical. This is the main reason why hundreds of thousands to even millions of visitors make it a point to come to the region to experience these beautiful views. Aside from the heritage sites, there are a number of nature reserves, smaller parks, state forests and rainforests that are abundant in the region.

Various towns in the region offer unique holiday features. Tweed Heads and Coolangatta are the centre towns and the regional centre of the region, which are most famous for their surf beaches. In Fingal lies the Giant's Causeway, the original Point Danger Lighthouse, and the unspoilt beach stretch that is rarely ever crowded. Kingscliff is renowned for its beachfront restaurants and cafes as well as holiday facilities. Grafton is a historical city that allows one to experience the country town ambience with stunning nature. The coastal town of Yamba, on the other hand, is a paradise for water lovers, where one can go deep sea fishing, sailing or surfing.

In the recent years, the influx of visitors and city escapees has added a little touch of sophistication in the area.
