South Coast, New South Wales

The South Coast of New South Wales remains to be one of the unspoilt, picturesque regions in Australia. The South Coast geographically refers to the narrow coastal region belt that lies south of Sydney and north of Victoria, and is a rather long stretch of road that spans these two regions. This region is very popular among residents of Canberra and Sydney as a favourite holiday destination.

To the east lies the coastline of the Pacific Ocean, and is rich in rolling farmlands, small villages and towns along a somewhat rocky coastline, occasionally interrupted by a number of beaches and lagoons. To the west of the South Coast lies the coastal escapement of Southern Tablelands, which is covered by a number of national parks.

With this configuration, one can imagine the wondrous beauty of nature that the South Coast features. These stunningly scenic views are well-complemented by South Coasts' lovely people and unfailing hospitality.

The South Coast starts with the Royal National Park located just right outside Sydney which is one if its renowned attractions. Further south leads to the most fabulous Shoalhaven Heads, which centres on the Jervis Bay, and the cozy towns of Nowra, Huskisson, Mollymook, Ulladulla and Sussex Inlet. These areas offer the best coastal sceneries interestingly combined with lush farmlands and stunning National Parks. Aside from these, there is a series of rugged headlands and an innumerable number of beautiful beaches. Shoalhaven has a good number of beaches where one can swim, kayak, surf, snorkel, or simply stretch out and have fun under the sun. There are just as many bush tracks in the national parks to explore, enjoy and have a picnic at.

Travelling southwards leads to the Eurobodalla region which is once again delighted by the wondrous coastal scenery with magnificent bays and beaches that are surrounded by the most beautiful nature-filled rural sceneries in the country. Visitors love visiting the small but quaint towns of Ulladulla and Batemans Bay. Further south lies the most beautiful Sapphire coast which is world famous for its dairy products. It is centred on the town of Bega which is also famous for its stunning rural scenery. Along the beach filled coast lies the well-visited resort towns of Eden and Merimbula, which are the largest and most popular. These towns offer a wide range of cheap holiday accommodation, cafes and restaurants, along with holiday facilities to include patrolled beaches and golf courses.

The South Coast has a very mild, warm and temperate climate. Temperatures range from 26 degrees (Celsius) to 17 in the winter. Rainfall, however, tends to be quite erratic and rains can occur irregularly. This changing weather does not seem to stop visitors from all directions in the country from visiting the region, most especially in the summer. New South Wales South Coast Accommodation is widely available from Cheap Holiday Accommodation which can range from luxurious bed and breakfasts, nice hotels and resorts, apartments, to cottages, caravan parks, motels, backpacker hostels and houseboat yachts.

To get to the South Coast, driving is always best. It is only a two-hour drive from Sydney, or one can also take the coach from Sydney. In terms of getting around the towns and villages, local taxi services and local bus service are widely available.
