Thredbo, Snowy Mountains — New South Wales

Thredbo is a ski resort village in the Snowy Mountains, within the Snowy River Shire of New South Wales. The village is known as a popular skiing destination all year round, even during summer months when a large snowmaking system is needed to replenish melted snow in lower slopes.

There are more than 50 ski runs in Thredbo, in varying lengths and difficulties. The village is ideal for the whole family to spend their holidays in, with several terrain parks ideal for first timers and children.

For those not keen on skiing, there are several walking paths in the area that offer unique experiences in themselves. A visit to the Information Centre, situated near the lifts, will yield valuable information and guidelines on how to explore Thredbo on foot.

Taking the lift to the top of the valley affords each visitor with spectacular views all around. A short walk is in order for those who wish to reach the summit of Mount Kosciuszko. There are metal walkways to aid those making this short and easy trip, and visitors are encouraged to stay on the path to minimize disturbance to the surrounding flora and fauna.

There is a viewing area for them to observe the whole distilling process and marvel at the equipment used.

Apart from the distilling operation, the establishment also features an art gallery that showcases the works of a resident artist. There are also several sculptures made of granite scattered all over the premises and provide interesting sights for a walk to its raspberry farm.
