Mullumbimby
Northern Rivers, New South Wales
Mullumbimby is a town in the Byron Shire, about 10 kilometers from the coast. It is located within the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales and situated at the foot of Mount Chincogan. The place-name was derived from an Aboriginal word translating to 'small round hill', an allusion to the nearby mountain.
During the 1960s, the town was much associated with alternative lifestyles or counter culture, though there is little in its present appearance to indicate this colorful and unique past.
One popular outdoor destination of Mullumbimby is the Brunswick Valley Heritage Park, accessed via the corner of Brunswick Terrace and Tyagarah Street. Read more...
