
Located in the southernmost part of Gold Coast, with a population of about 4000 people, is the airport suburb of Coolangatta. There is an interesting piece of history associated with the naming of Coolangatta. In 1770, Captain Cook sailed past Coolangatta and the Gold Coast and named both Point Danger and Mount Warning for the apparent danger the area presented to ships navigating off the Gold Coast.
