The Australian Capital Territory (ACT) is considered the smallest territory in the Commonwealth of Australia, founded during the later part of the 19th century. Tourism is also another major industry, the abundance of attractions lead to the establishment of numerous accommodations and amenities.

There are several rivers, mountains, and forests in the territory, making it rich in natural resources and natural attractions. One of these beautiful destinations is the Morton National Park which features nature trails leading to scenic lookouts, waterfalls, gorges, and rainforests. Outdoor enthusiasts will have plenty of activities awaiting them in this area and can spend the night under the stars in one of the several designated campsites. Other similar destinations within the ACT include the Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve and the Namadgi National Park. Another interesting attraction in ACT is the Wombeyan Caves which is composed of five caves that provide numerous opportunities for adventure and hiking. Visitors can also enjoy the scenic views surrounding the caves.

The Snowy Mountains are also located nearby, where glacial lakes abound for boating, paddling, and other water sports activities. There are also several resorts within the area that city dwellers often head out to for rest and recreation. There are also numerous trails leading to breathtaking vistas and woodlands filled with colorful wildflowers and interesting wildlife. Also not to be missed is the Yarrangobilly Caves, where visitors can take a dip into its thermal pool. The area is also home to a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve where several rare plants are located.

Those who are history enthusiasts also find a lot of interesting destinations all over ACT. These include the Old Parliament House, the Australian War Memorial, and the Mugga-Mugga historic site which are all located in Canberra. Outdoor enthusiasts do not have to venture far from the city to enjoy the outdoors with the presence of numerous parks and gardens, the most prominent would be the Australian National Botanic Gardens.

There are also several festivals and festivities celebrated all over the ACT the whole year through. During February, the National Multicultural Festival is celebrated with art exhibits, food and wine tasting, street parties, and general merriment. Come August is the Fireside Festival which focuses on providing cozy entertainment during the wintertime. A month after, in November, the Wine, Roses and all that Jazz festival  showcases the products of the region’s wineries coupled with concerts of jazz music. Most of these events are held in Canberra and in all other parts of the Australian Capital Territory.
